- General Information
- Living Area
THE COTTAGE.Originally the miller's cottage and barn. Vaulted oak beamed ceilings, thick welsh slate window sills and double french doors leading out onto a brick paved terrace overlooking the view down to the valley .
The Cottage is centuries old and most of the really unusual features have been retained, including some arrow slit windows and a unique antique lifting wheel that was still in use until just a few years ago. An original exterior stone staircase to the upper floor has been preserved (now only decorative)
CONSERVATORY Overlooks the garden and lilly pond. Currently used as an extra bedroom.
THE GREAT ROOM
This large room is the living area of the cottage. It has a cathedral ceiling, green oak A-frame beams, rustic oak panelling and double wide glass French windows that lead out to the terrace
Reclaimed Welsh flag-stone flooring with an under floor heating system keeps this room warm during the cooler months and a large Jotul wood burner provides a roaring open fire to curl up beside.
Staircase leads to the bedroom on the upper floor. It has been custom designed using one of the old hay racks salvaged from a byre and kiln dried estate oak.
EAT-IN COUNTRY KITCHEN
Enter through the double stable door from The Courtyard, ceramic top American style range cooker, dishwasher, cast iron white enamelled double sink & Welsh slate counter tops.
The adjacent utility room has a large refrigerator/freezer, some storage and hook up for washer & dryer
BEDROOM 1 Lovely and light with Kingsize bed and large screen TV
BEDROOM 2 Has wide plank oak floors with underfloor heating. Southerly views from the windows are down over the valley and westerly views out over the walled water garden. The room is accessed from the hallway on the ground floor and is adjacent to the main family bathroom.
Bedroom 3 On the upper floor, it is accessed by a hand built oak staircase that leads upstairs from The Great Room, utilising original byre metalwork as a handrail. It has exposed oak beams, cottage style blonde maple wood floor and central heating by radiator. Views are southerly down over the valley and also easterly (in the Spring you can see a huge swathe of daffodils running from the Estate entrance gate right down to the courtyard). This second bedroom has a private En-Suite bathroom.
MAIN FAMILY BATHROOM
The oak panelled Main Bathroom has a traditional cast iron roll top bath tub with shower spray attachment, corner shower and the Heritage porcelain fixtures including high cistern toilet, washbasin and heated towel rail.
Attached to Bedroom 2. It has a cast iron claw foot roll top slipper bath & hand held shower/mixer. Traditional Heritage porcelain fixtures include a high cistern toilet, bidet, washbasin and heated towel rail.
Large glass french double doors lead out onto the large south facing brick paved terrace. Look out over a view that on a sunny summer day would be hard to rival anywhere in Wales or indeed the whole of the British Isles.
